Published Feb 12, 2008

Atlanta City Councilmember Natalyn Mosby Archibong and DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will host the 7th Annual Focus Upon Senior Services (F.U.S.S.) seminar.

This year's event will include important information from State Representatives Robbin Shipp and Stacey Abrams as well as DeKalb County Solicitor Robert James and DeKalb County Tax Commissioner Claudia Lawson. Councilmember Archibong explained, “...the topic will be mortgage foreclosure issues facing our senior citizens. Our goal is to provide seniors with the information they need to protect their most precious financial asset – their home.”

The Home Defense Program provides legal representation and referrals for largely poor and elderly homeowners and homebuyers who are victims of home equity and purchase schemes, including predatory mortgage lending and foreclosure assistance fraud. Brennan has appeared on 60 Minutes, NBC Nightly News, NPR, and has testified in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Financial Services.

Attendees at this year’s F.U.S.S. will include the City of Atlanta’s Bureau of Solid Waste and Sanitation and Department of Watershed Management, as well as Senior Connections, Atlanta Housing Association of Neighborhood-Based Developers (AHAND), the Fulton-Atlanta Action Community Authority (FAACA), United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and representatives of local banking institutions who will provide information on reverse mortgages.
