Atlanta Marriott Downtown Celebrates with Complimentary Coffee Breaks

The first integrated hotel in downtown Atlanta, the Atlanta Marriott Downtown recently completed an impressive and contemporary $8.5 million dollar renovation and celebrates the debut by offering groups a complimentary coffee break. Simply book a meeting by July 31, 2008 and hold it before December 31, 2008 with 20 attendees minimum.*

Built in 1962, the nine-story landmark Americana Hotel (official name at that time) located at 160 Spring Street NW, was owned by Marvin Goldstein, dentist to the children of Martin Luther King Jr. When advised by the city to build separate water fountains for Caucasians and African Americans, Goldstein decided not to build any at all. “In an effort to preserve a part of history, our guests will still find remnants of the segregation with our public restrooms designated men’s, women’s and unisex,” stated Michelle Bradley, director of sales and marketing at the Atlanta Marriott Downtown. "Today, I invite everyone to rediscover the beauty and aura of our legendary venue, wrapped in warm southern hospitality and complimented with luxurious accommodations and services unlike any other place on this planet.”

Step into a Lobby {Reinvented} showcasing a Media Zone with HD Plasma screens, communal tables with complimentary Wi-Fi for networking and the refreshing Liquid lounge for that favorite cocktail. The 312-room Atlanta Marriott Downtown is also now home to the fine-dining, Aura. Guests will enjoy casual American cuisine served amidst an impressive and abstract wall mural, commissioned by artist, Eric Zener.

All luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites are decked out with Plasma TV’s complete with Marriott’s new plug in technology; high-speed internet access; in-room coffee makers, complimentary newspaper and topped off with Marriott’s Revive Bedding package. The exciting makeover moved outdoors with the resurfacing of the expansive pool deck, complimented by the addition of striking new furnishings, all nestled amidst a backdrop of mature trees and lush greenery for added privacy. Work-out enthusiasts will discover an all new state-of-art fitness center with personalized LCD’s and more.
