DeKalb Foreclosure Prevention & Intervention Task Force to Address Growing Community Concerns

DECATUR- The Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention Task Force, chaired by Commissioner Connie Stokes, will begin holding meetings next month. The meetings are scheduled to take place in Hall A of the St. Philip AME Church located at 240 Candler Road in Atlanta.

The meetings are open to the public and the dates are as follows:

  • Monday, June 9, 2008 7 - 9 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 10, 2008 10 a.m. - noon
  • Thursday, July 31, 2008 10 a.m. - noon

A diverse group of stakeholders with expert knowledge regarding the foreclosure crisis have been identified to serve on the Task Force. The goal of the Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention Task Force is to identify and assist in the implementation of solutions-driven recommendations to address foreclosures and the mortgage crisis affecting families and communities in DeKalb County.

DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Vernon Jones established the DeKalb Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention Task Force and appointed Commissioner Connie Stokes to chair the committee during the regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners Meeting in April 2008.
