Monday, April 28th - Beyond the Basics
Constant Contact

This interactive workshop saves you time by allowing you to quickly and easily master the entire Constant Contact Email Marketing system. We'll provide tips and techniques and guide you through the tools and features of the system. You'll learn how to set up account options, add signup boxes to your website and emails, load a list, build a campaign, and brand your email to match websites and logos. We will also go over text editing and how to work with graphics and colors to give your emails a polished, professional look.

Chamber Events Each month the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce hosts a series of programs and events aimed at providing information and business development opportunities for our members. One of these is our First Monday Lunch Speaker Series whereby we invite key public officials and business leaders to discuss a myriad of topics ranging from politics, healthcare, technology, finance, and overall best business practices to name a few.

April 3rd - June 3rd - Shelter & Sanctuary:  Works by Flora Rosefsky.  The DeKalb Council for the Arts (DCA) presents Shelter & Sanctuary, a solo show of new and recent work by mixed-media artist Flora Rosefsky.  Time: Opening reception on April 3 from 6pm - 9 pm;  Gallery hours:  Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm. Tuesday, April 29th - ATLANTA YOUNG SINGERS 2008-2009 Season Auditions: Do you have a young singer in your life?  ATLANTA YOUNG SINGERS of Callanwolde (AYS), Atlanta's premier choir for children and youth, is currently seeking new members (male & female) in grades 2-12 of all musical levels for its 33rd season.  Group auditions will be held at each of the AYS satellite rehearsal locations in Atlanta/Decatur/Emory (May 3), West Cobb (April 24) and South DeKalb (April 29).  Individual auditions are also available.  Auditionees are evaluated for vocal quality, tonal memory, pitch independence, and musicianship. Please prepare a song to be sung a cappella during your audition.  Children over twelve years old are required to pass a sight-singing test.  If accepted, registration fees and tuition apply. Monday, May 5th - WESTWOOD COLLEGE CAREER FAIR - Cinco de Mayo Celebration.  The CDS will be celebrating "Cinco de Mayo" here at the Northlake Campus of Westwood College. Along with that, the Department of Career Development Services is sponsoring a Career Fair Celebration and would like to invite you to participate. The newly inducted members of Phi Beta Lambda, our business fraternity, will be an integral part of this event. The Career Fair is scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2008, and will be a business casual affair with themes of a festive celebration.  Meet & Greet 10:00 AM. Friday, May 16th - Self-Esteem Program - UASIST, Inc. Join us for a field trip with staff and students of the Shadow Rock Center for Autism, ADD, Emotional and Psychological Disorders to the Lithonia Riding Club as part of the UASIST Self Esteem Program to promote normalcy in the lives of these students. Saturday, May 17th - AMERIGROUP Community Care along with The Center for Black Women's Wellness will host "Ready.Set.Summer," a free community health fair at the Dunbar Neighborhood Center.  Ready.Set.Summer will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Ready. Set. Summer will feature activities from the Atlanta Spirit, Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation, Atlanta Fire Rescue and V-103 the People Station.  Attendees will receive free health, dental and vision screenings, sickle cell and blood pressure screenings, school sports physicals for the first 100 registrants, finger printing and free children's identification cards, as well as information on Medicaid and PeachCare open enrollment.  Location: The Dunbar Neighborhood Center is located at 477 Windsor Street, SW Atlanta, GA 30312.

JUDGES NEEDED FOR MARKETING STUDENTS - DeKalb County School System - April 28th

DECA - An Association for Marketing Students is having its annual International Career Development Conference which involves DECA members participating in competitive events.  

This event takes place at the Georgia World Congress Center.  DECA is in need of the members of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce to participate as judges Monday, April 28th.  It will be an experience that they will find rewarding.  It is wonderful to see our teens participate in such a scholastic manner.

CAREER DAY
DUNAIRE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

May 6th - As a part DeKalb County's comprehensive guidance and counseling program, Dunaire Elementary School will host its annual Career Day on May 6, 2008. The primary purpose of this event is to expose our students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade to the many career opportunities available to them as they prepare for the world of work.

We would like to extend an invitation to share your career experience with the boys and girls of Dunaire. You are welcome to bring promotional items such as pencils, magnets, and key chains to distribute to the students. Sessions will last for thirty minutes each and participants are welcome to sign up for several sessions.
