Published Feb 25, 2008

The 10,000 visitors that are expected to attend the 19th annual American Craft Show, March 14-16, 2008 at the Cobb Galleria Centre are in for a treat. Not only will they be able to view and purchase the latest high-quality, handcrafted jewelry, furniture, clothing and home accessories, they will also enjoy live entertainment from the Atlanta Opera and the Mudfire Pottery Center.

For the second year, the Atlanta Opera (www.atlantaopera.org) will perform at the Atlanta show. On Saturday, March 15 from 1-2 pm, a troupe from the Opera will perform select arias from the world’s most beloved operas on the main stage inside the exhibit hall.

The Mudfire Pottery Center of Decatur (www.mudfire.com) is offering clay wheel-turning and hand-building demonstrations. These entertaining and educational presentations will take place periodically each day of the show. Mudfire owners, Erik Haagensen and Luba Sharapan, said: “We're excited to participate at the American Craft Show, and hope when people stop by the demo stage they’ll take away a whole new appreciation for the top-notch pottery available at the show.”

Presented by the national nonprofit organization, the American Craft Council, the American Craft Show will feature the 240 artists who have been juried into this prestigious show. It is the premiere event for those for those seeking fashionable art for their wardrobe, decorative art for their home or functional art for everyday use  all presented in a visually spectacular venue where collectors and craft enthusiasts will shop the largest selection of museum-quality craft in the Southeast.
