Northlake-Barbara Loar Library to Close for Construction

Published Mar 26, 2008

The Northlake-Barbara Loar Library will close for several months beginning Monday, April 7 as the DeKalb County Public Library system prepares to begin expansion work on the branch. The last day of service will be Saturday, April 5. While the library is closed patrons will be served by nearby libraries, including the Briarcliff branch at 2775 Briarcliff Road, the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer branch at 4316 Church Street in Tucker and the Decatur Library, 215 Sycamore Street.

During the expansion project, the Northlake-Barbara Loar Library will be enlarged from 10,000 to 15,000 square feet, adding space for a new Teen Area, and enlargement of the Children's Area, as well as space for more books and computer stations. Construction is expected to begin later this spring and is scheduled for completion in early 2009.
