Event expected to “Back to School” Motivator for DeKalb families …

DECATUR – DeKalb County District 5 Commissioner Lee May will partner with DeKalb County Parks and Recreation to host a Family Fun Day event on Saturday, August 9, 2008 for all DeKalb families. The event will be held from 2-7 p.m., at Lithonia Park located at 2501 Park Drive in Lithonia.

“Family Fun Day is designed to get the kids excited and ready for back to school,” said May. “We will be collecting school supplies and there will be plenty of fun events for all DeKalb County families to enjoy.”

Family Fun Day will offer activities such as:

• Entertainment: Live Music, DJ, Spoken Word
• Inflatables, clowns and face painting
• Swimming at Lithonia Pool (Adults $3.00 Kids $2.00) until 6:00pm
• Lawn Chairs and Picnic Baskets Permitted
• Spades and Dominos for all ages

May is working with several public and private sponsors to promote the event. Family Fun Day is expected to attract more than 2,000 attendees. This is the first time May has partnered with DeKalb Parks and Recreation to promote this event.
