Despite weakening today, Tropical Storm Hanna will regain hurricane strength before reaching the East Coast by Friday. While Gustav continues today to pummel the Arklatex, there are two more tropical storms stacked up behind Hanna.
The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center reports that Hanna weakened to a Tropical Storm today after being upgraded to a hurricane on Monday. The initial effects of Hanna will be felt along the Florida coast by Thursday. Hanna is forecast to be a Category 2 hurricane before making landfall near Charleston, S.C., around midday on Friday.
To the east of Hanna, Tropical Storms Ike and Josephine are making their way across the Atlantic. Ike today is about 1,200 miles east of the Leeward Islands. Josephine, the tenth tropical storm of the season, is about 170 miles south-southeast of the Cape Verde Islands.
