In preparation for the 2008-2009 school year, DeKalb County School System has implemented a continuous, ongoing student registration process. This streamlined process allows parents to register their students throughout the summer months according to each school/center’s hours of availability.

In order to make registration easier for parents new to DeKalb or parents who are new to a school attendance zone, the month of June has been designated as ‘New Student Registration’ month. However, local schools and centers will continue to register new students throughout the summer. Students returning to the same school or feeder pattern within an attendance area were given forms in May 2008 that updated their registration in the school system.

DeKalb will host a system-wide Open House day August 6, 2008 that invites all parents to the school or center in order to meet teachers, find classrooms, and receive school-based information. Parents will also have opportunities to complete information sheets and forms as required by the local school at Open House. Additionally, parents will have an opportunity to join PTA and other school booster clubs.
