Roads & Drainage to Host 2nd Stormwater Management Symposium
DECATUR- The DeKalb County Roads & Drainage Division of Public Works will host a free all-day Stormwater Management Symposium on Saturday, June 28, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 6p.m., at the DeKalb Technical College, Clarkston Campus Conference Center located at 555 N. Indian Creek Drive in Clarkston, Georgia.
Georgia Perimeter College, the University of North Carolina Environmental Finance Center, the Army Corps of Engineers and the DeKalb Board of Health will take part in the symposium to help educate DeKalb residents on how to preserve the county’s water system.
A total of 21 workshops will be offered to provide tips on protecting DeKalb’s water resources. The workshops will address various products that have toxins which enter the county’s stormwater system and pollute local lakes, streams, creeks and wildlife. Participants will learn information on topics such as: rain gardens, water wise household, car washing, septic tank maintenance, lawn care and flood management.
The symposium will also offer information on county home buyout programs, flood hazard mitigation and flood plain assessment services provided by DeKalb County.
