DeKalb Mourns Loss of DeKalb Soldier

DECATUR- DeKalb County Medical Examiner employee George Dunham, Forensic Technician Senior, has been advised by the United States Army that his son, Sergeant First Class Robert E. Dunham was killed in Iraq on May 24, 2007, when the Humvee that he was riding in was blown up by an IED (improvised explosive device).

“Another American soldier, Sergeant First Class Robert E. Dunham, gave his life defending his country and the freedom of the Iraqi people,” says Chief Executive Officer Vernon Jones. “This war continues to hit close to home as we hear about the loss of soldiers everyday. We will continue to pray for all families in DeKalb County, Georgia and this country.”

Sergeant Dunham’s body will be flown to Dover, Delaware and then to Atlanta, Georgia by the United States Military. CEO Vernon Jones has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff upon his return to his family.
