| Enjoy 60 tons of sand on "Ponce de Leon Beach" and dancing in the street! Join several thousand of your closest friends for the start of Summer fun in Decatur by volunteering at the Decatur Beach Party on Friday, June 20. There is something to fit every schedule from set up in the morning to working at the Children's Boardwalk or Entry Gates in the evening. Decatur Business Association members are always important to the success of a festival favorite, the Children's Boardwalk area. This area becomes more popular each year with its carnival games, such as ring toss and "fishing." Children enjoy jumping in the inflatables and doing arts and crafts. Over 150 volunteers help with the Children's Boardwalk games each year. Please consider volunteering during one of the 3 shifts - 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., or 8:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Organizations that provide at least 25 volunteers will have their name listed on a sign on the Boardwalk. This is a great volunteer activity for teenagers to shake off that Summer boredom! Entry Gate volunteer shifts are 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., 6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and 8:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. You may sign up individually or as a group to volunteer. Volunteers receive free admission to the festival that runs from 5:00 p.m. to midnight. Volunteers on later shifts may receive free admission beginning at 5:00 p.m. and then work their volunteer shift. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Lee Ann Harvey, Volunteer! Decatur, at (678) 553-6548 or leeann.harvey@decaturga.com. See you at the Beach! |
