SEC Sports Report Predicts Upset in SEC Football for Saturday

Published Nov 20, 2008

SEC Game of the Week
Ole Miss (6-4) vs LSU (7-3) in Baton Rouge. Last week, LSU had to scratch and claw in the second half against Troy State. In the end, the Tigers won 40-31 and this game showed the perserverance of an LSU that will not give up. At the same time, Ole Miss was putting a beat down on Louisiana-Monroe and when they turned the lights off it was 59-0.

We listened to both coaches in the press conference this week and Les Miles seems to be fighting for every break since the Florida game in October. Ole Miss is looking better every week. Both these teams played Alabama close. LSU will have a slight advantage because of playing on their home field with the 92,103 screaming fans.

If LSU had two healthy quarterbacks, they would be the favorite. However, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee is not quite ready to take the reins just yet. LSU has dominated this series but we believe Ole Miss has the momentum. Upset Watch.  We are going against the odds makers and picking Ole Miss. Rebels win 31-27.

Tennessee In-State Rivalry
Tennessee (3-7) vs Vandy (6-4) in Nashville. Tennessee had a week off after taking a humiliating home loss to Wyoming. Vandy traveled to Lexington and knocked off Kentucky and secured a bowl bid for the end of the season.

With some time-off, Coach Fulmer decided to go back to Jonathon Crompton and moved former starter Nick Stevens to #3 on the depth chart. It would be fairly impossible to prepare the Vols for their last two SEC games with a head coach on the way out, assistants looking for jobs, and Seniors looking at the NFL.

Vandy needs to beat the Vols while they have the chance. The Dores have only beaten the Vols one time in twenty five years and it was 2005. One more SEC win could help with a better bowl as well. We wanted to see Fulmer go out on a good note but it looks like there is still a lot of chaos in Knoxville.  We like Vandy in this one 24-16.

SEC West Game
Arkansas vs Miss State in Starkville. Miss State is hot and cold and you never know what team will show up. They beat Vandy and then got trounced by Tennessee. Arkansas is good but they are still trying to find their identity. Arkansas has had two weeks to prepare for this game while State was getting rolled by Bama last week. Picking this game is a flip of the coin. We like the Hawgs 27-21.

SEC East Cream Puff
Florida (9-1) vs The Citadel in the Swamp. Florida is absolutely running over teams. The Gators have rolled over everybody in the SEC East and we expect them to possibly hit the low 70s in this game. The Citadel football team is like lambs going to the slaughter. We just hope nobobdy gets hurt. We like the Gators again 72-3.
