Dunwoody Wins 9th DeKalb All-Sports Trophy

Published Oct 20, 2007

Dunwoody ended Southwest DeKalb's two-year grip on the DeKalb County All-Sports Trophy by slipping past the Panthers by a score of 306-296.5.

Southwest DeKalb had broken a 9-year run (1996-2004) by Lakeside by winning the trophy in 2005 and repeating in 2006.

Dunwoody which had a five-year streak (1991-95) of its own broken by Lakeside used a solid season of playoff appearances and deep runs by its tennis teams and a state championship in basketball to outduel Southwest DeKalb and its state championships in boys' and girls' track.

The All-Sports Trophy dates back to 1982 and has only five different schools to claim ownership of the prize in the 26 years.

Lakeside won the first two years and owns a record 11 trophies followed by Dunwoody with 9, Redan 3, Southwest DeKalb 2 and Tucker 1.
